2009 VW Jetta TDI
The 2009 Jetta TDI is definitely a Green Machine for Volkswagen’. Try to find one in a dealers inventory and you will have to search hard and long at your local VW dealers. But The TDI’s fuel economy is close to the current Hybrids in the marketplace
The Jetta TDI can combine performance and ecology at the same time.
The styling is somewhat bland compared to other vehicles in the marketplace and the interior is definitely not high tech.
Driving Experience
On the road the Jetta TDI is a solid performer with great fuel economy. I averaged 40 MPG on the highway and nearly 30MPG in the city
The Jetta TDI’s has responsive steering and handling and takes hairpins with ease.
There was a slight diesel drag when you accelerate from a stop with the Jetta TDI, but the positive fuel economy more than compensates for this drawback The 2.0L four-cylinder turbo diesel provides plenty of get up and go for passing or merging onto highways. The Jetta’s suspension truly shines. When encountering any road condition the TDI handles any road condition and has minimal body roll with effortless steering.
The Jetta was fun to drive, and when you pull into a gas station after a long day of driving you walk away with a smile on your face after you pay for the fill up!

Inside
My TDI came equipped with leather seats that had supportive side bolsters and were capable of keeping me situated in the seat. The gauges were easy to read and all TDIs come standard with a trip computer that displays a variety of information in the center of the cluster.
The interiors quality and materials were of the highest quality including a leather-wrapped steering that is adjustable.
Visibility is excellent and the back seat is has enough room for two adults and a third passenger could squeeze in. The interior is boring, lacking in high tech gadgetry but functional
In the center of the instrument cluster is the Multi-Function Indicator (MFI), red backlit display displaying fuel economy, miles to empty, average speed, and audio playback information. You can also adjust various convenience features, such as the auto locking doors or daytime running lamps.
The steering wheel features buttons for controlling the MFI and for adjusting audio volume.
My Jetta TDI was equipped with VW’s Premium VII six-disc, in-dash CD layer. which has audio sources for the CD changer, which is MP3 compatible, available satellite radio, and an auxiliary input in the center console.
The sound system has 10 speakers has a great sound. Unfortunately,
An iPod connection is available as a dealer-installed option, as is Bluetooth hands-free.
Outside
The design of the Jetta TDI’ isn’t as contemporary as other models out in the industry, but some of the styling cues like the unmistakable grill all say Jetta. The design is pleasant but could use some updating.
Summary
The Jetta TDI is a fun vehicle to drive that can equal the gas economy of a Hybrid without the worry of replacing costly batteries.
