2009 Hyundai Sonata SE V6
Hyundai has hit a home run with its new Sonata. This model will be a main player in the midsize segment where the other competition is Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
The 2009 Sonata has been refreshed from the 2008. The new Sonata has a new nose with a more prominent grille and reworked headlights. The taillights and bumper covers also got some revisions.
The major changes are inside the car, which are immediately noticed compared to the 2008 Sonata. It has become more contemporary and has an upscale feel.
The center stack is highlighted with a satin-finish metallic trim. The radio and climate controls are easy to reach and it has 2 storage compartments. The seats are redesigned for more comfort and they give you better support when making turns. The seats in the SE are cloth with leather highlights on the bolsters and a 8 way power seat. The dash is very contemporary and all the gauges are well laid out for viewing. The window and remote mirror controls are well placed on the driver’s door for easy access. There is plenty of room in the interior to have you and your passengers can get comfortable
There are two drive trains available for the Sonata. The 4 cylinder and the one I drove a V6 3.3L develops 249hp and is only available with the automatic. The V6 has a lot of get up and go!
My test drive was the SE V6 and it had a MRSP with destination charges of $23,935.00 and was Slate Blue with black interior. My Sonata was dressed up with a rear spoiler, 17″ Alloy Wheels, XM radio, USB cable/input, a tilt & telescopic steering wheel and has chrome tip dual exhaust.
The suspension absorbs harsh roads with ease, but I noticed slight body roll when taking quick turns.
The Sonata’s gas mileage is respectable at 19 City & 29 Hwy
Safety features include dual-stage front-seat airbags; front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection; and full-coverage side curtain airbags designed to provide head protection. Antilock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with traction control also come standard, as does a tire-pressure monitor are the safety features found on all Sonata’s
The Hyundai Sonata plays a beautiful tune for any driver
