2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Hyundai Veracruz is a crossover that you should take for a test drive before you decide to purchase one of its direct competitors, which are the Lexus RX350, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.

Veracurz is based off a stretched version of the Santa Fe, The Veracruz offers 7 passengers seating, a luxurious interior and a smooth, and is a unique handling vehicle. The V6 produces 260 HP, which is standard for this model.

Veracruz is available in 3 trim levels, which are the GLS (Standard features are a six-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability control, alloy wheels, an AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 audio system, filtration air conditioning, safety features such as airbags) the SE (adds larger wheels, a power driver’s seat, and upgraded interior and exterior trim for about $1,000 more) and the top of the line is the Limited (Adds premium features like leather seating, heated power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, an upgraded audio system, power for the tilt and slide sunroof, tilt and telescope steering wheel, pedals, and tailgate, memory for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and steering wheel, upscale exterior and interior trim, puddle lamps, a backup warning system, and proximity key ignition , which are all  part of the package).

My test vehicle was the Limited AWD and it was painted a beautiful color called Satin Beige. The interior was a  dark chocolate brown leather interior. This vehicle was equipped with the navigation system, and had a MSRP of $38,525.00

The Veracruz styling is unique for a mid size vehicle. It has clean smooth lines highlighted with a unique grill and accented with L-shaped headlights.

The Veracruz Limited has a keyless entry system. You just keep the key fob in your purse or wallet and press the pad on the door or rear gate to unlock and get in. To start the vehicle you just turn the ignition switch to start and you are ready to go! The Veracruz has blue ambient lighting that even light up the script on the door sill plates. The engine is quiet, responsive, but isn’t great on gas mileage. The fit of all trim is excellent and the materials used are of the highest quality

My limited was trimmed with leather seating surfaces and door inserts, and highlighted with wood grain and metallic trim. The dash has easy to read gauges that are lit with a cool blue lighting.

The navigation system is easy to use and helped guide me to my destinations over the course of a week. The heated and power seats were very comfortable for the long drives I took in the Veracruz. The steering wheel is power tilt and telescopic. It has audio and cruise control features and is easy to adjust for any driver. Finally this vehicle comes with adjustable pedals for making the final adjustment for multiple drivers! There is plenty of storage in the front and back seats with upholders and power outlets. The front seat storage has a cooled center console box. The second row passengers can control their environment with their own climate controls and vents. The third row is accessed by folding either second-row seatback, and is good for people up to 5-6 or so.

The Veracruz has many safety features like a reinforced safety cage, dual front, front seat-mounted side, and full-length side curtain air bags. tire-pressure monitoring system, four-wheel discs, with antilock, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control and a backup warning system, (standard in the Limited and optional in other models).

The Veracruz uses independent MacPherson strut front/ multilink rear suspension makes the driving and handling a pleasure .The Veracruz has responsive steering and makes tight easy in any type of maneuver.

My Veracuz weighed in 4400 pounds, AWD, 260 horsepower (at 6000 rpm), 257 lb-ft of torque (at 4500 rpm), and had a six-speed automatic transmission. The transmission comes with a Shiftronic manual-mold shifting allowing manual over-ride when desired.

The Hyundai Veracruz is a definite contender for the top spot in the mid size CUV category!
